🚨💣 LIVERPOOL PASSED ON PALESTRA… CHELSEA SAW THE GOLD! 👀🔵
Liverpool reportedly had the opportunity to sign highly-rated Italian right-back Marco Palestra before Chelsea stepped in and completed a deal for the youngster. The Reds were reportedly offered the chance to pursue the defender, but chose to focus their transfer resources on other areas of the squad.
And now… Chelsea have him. 😳🔥
The 21-year-old made a huge impression during his 2025/26 loan spell at Cagliari, establishing himself as one of Italy’s exciting young defensive talents. His performances were enough to earn him recognition as Serie A Defender of the Year, while he also broke into the Italian senior national team. 🇮🇹⭐
Palestra isn’t your typical stay-at-home full-back either. He loves getting forward, carrying the ball and attacking space, making him perfectly suited to the modern wing-back role. His ability to contribute in the final third was one of the reasons several major European clubs showed interest. ⚡🏃♂️💨
Liverpool ultimately went in another direction, completing the signing of Jérémy Jacquet from Rennes for an initial £55 million plus add-ons as they strengthened their defence. Meanwhile, Chelsea pushed ahead with Palestra and secured him on a long-term contract running until 2033. 🔴💰🔵
The reported Chelsea fee is around £43m to £47m, depending on the source, highlighting just how highly the London club values the young Italian. 💷🔥
And there’s an interesting twist… 👀
Palestra’s move to Stamford Bridge was heavily influenced by Xabi Alonso, who reportedly explained how the youngster could fit into his tactical system. With Alonso known for using aggressive, attack-minded wing-backs, Palestra could have the perfect environment to develop his game. 🧠⚽🔥
For Liverpool supporters, though, this is one of those transfers that could become very painful to watch. 😭
If Palestra develops into the Premier League star many expect, the question will inevitably come back:
Why didn’t Liverpool go for him when they had the chance? 🤔🔴
Chelsea have taken the gamble. Palestra now has the stage.
And if this kid explodes in the Premier League… Liverpool might seriously regret letting this one slip away. 💣👀🔥
