😡 “WE HAVE TO GO HOME WITH THIS INJUSTICE” — MARTÍNEZ BREAKS HIS SILENCE

Lisandro Martínez has delivered a furious reaction after Manchester United’s controversial 1-0 defeat to Manchester City, insisting that Enzo Fernández’s position directly affected him during Erling Haaland’s decisive goal. 🔥🔴

The incident came shortly after City were reduced to 10 men, with Haaland eventually finishing Josko Gvardiol’s cross to put City ahead. The assistant referee initially flagged the goal for offside, but VAR overturned the decision because Haaland himself was in an onside position. 😳⚽

The problem was Fernández.

The City midfielder was in an offside position and attempted to get to the ball. Although he did not make contact, Martínez argued that Fernández’s movement forced him to react and ultimately created the space Haaland exploited at the far post. 👀

Martínez later explained that he moved towards Fernández because of his position, leaving Haaland with the freedom to attack the cross.

And now the controversy has taken another twist. 🚨

Pro Ref has admitted that VAR made an “error of judgment”, saying the officials failed to properly recognise the likely impact of Fernández’s position and should have recommended an on-field review. The refereeing body has also contacted Manchester United to acknowledge the mistake.

For Martínez, that admission will do little to ease the frustration.

The Argentine defender made it clear that he believes United were denied by an avoidable officiating error, especially considering how significant the goal proved to be in deciding the derby. 😤

Michael Carrick also questioned the decision after the match, describing the situation as worrying and expressing disbelief that the officials had allowed the goal to stand.

City ultimately held on for the victory despite playing much of the match with 10 men, leaving United empty-handed at Old Trafford.

Now that Pro Ref has acknowledged the error, the debate over that Haaland goal is only getting louder. 🔥

Martínez felt there was an injustice. Pro Ref says there was an error. United fans are asking one question: how did VAR get it so wrong? 😳🔴
