Hugo Ekitiké has given Liverpool supporters another glimpse of himself away from the pitch, and his fresh new look has certainly caught attention! 👀🔥
The French forward appears to be embracing a different style during what has been a frustrating period on the sidelines. But while the new hairstyle is getting people talking, the bigger story remains his long road back to competitive football. 💪🏽⚽
Ekitiké suffered a serious Achilles tendon injury in April and underwent surgery, beginning what has become a lengthy rehabilitation process. Liverpool have been careful not to rush his recovery, with head coach Andoni Iraola repeatedly stressing that the striker is still some distance away from a full return.
There has, however, been a little encouragement. Ekitiké has continued sharing glimpses of his rehabilitation, including footage of himself working with the ball, showing that his recovery is gradually progressing. 🏃🏽♂️⚽🔥
And there is an interesting twist for Liverpool supporters. Ekitiké has been included in the club’s Champions League squad, with Iraola saying there is a realistic possibility that he could potentially contribute later in the league phase, although the manager made it clear that nothing is guaranteed because of the seriousness of the injury.
That means every small update is going to attract attention.
The striker was an important attacking option for Liverpool before the injury, contributing 23 goals and assists combined during his first season at the club. His return could therefore add another dimension to Iraola’s attacking options alongside players such as Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz.
For now, though, the message is simple: patience. ⏳
The new look may have fans talking today, but Liverpool supporters will be far more interested in the day Ekitiké swaps the recovery room for the pitch again. 🔴👀
And judging by the latest glimpses, the comeback mission is still very much underway. 💪🔥⚽
