Gordon completed his move from Newcastle United to Barcelona in May 2026, signing a five-year contract that runs until 2031. Barcelona confirmed the deal after agreeing terms with Newcastle.
The winger arrived in Spain with huge expectations, having established himself as an important attacking player during his time at Newcastle. He finished his Newcastle spell with 152 appearances and 39 goals, before making the move to Catalonia.

The German coach wanted more attacking depth and intensity, and reports indicate that Gordon was brought in as part of that plan. Barcelona sporting director Deco and Flick reportedly saw the Englishman as someone capable of adding more speed and competition to the attack.
