Trent Alexander-Arnold has only been away from Liverpool for just over a year, but a sensational Anfield return is already being discussed after his difficult start to life at Real Madrid. 👀⚪
The England international left his boyhood club in 2025 after 354 appearances, 23 goals and a trophy-filled career at Anfield. He then completed his dream move to Real Madrid, signing for the Spanish giants after Liverpool accepted an offer for his transfer. 🇬🇧➡️🇪🇸
But things have not gone exactly as expected in Madrid. 😳
Trent struggled with injuries during his first campaign and made only 30 appearances across all competitions, starting 14 La Liga matches. This season, competition for the right-back position has become even tougher following the arrival of Denzel Dumfries. 🔥
José Mourinho has also experimented with Trent in midfield, while his limited starts have fuelled fresh speculation about his long-term future at the Santiago Bernabéu. Recent reports say he has started only two of Real Madrid’s first six league matches. 👀
And then came another huge twist…
Former Liverpool figures and pundits have openly suggested that Trent should consider returning to Anfield. Stephen Warnock even argued that if the defender ever returned to the Premier League, Liverpool would be the obvious destination because of his deep connection with the club. 🔴❤️
Trent himself has also admitted that he still watches every Liverpool game, despite now playing thousands of miles away from his boyhood club. 👀
That has only added fuel to the rumours.
However, there is currently no confirmed indication that Trent is pushing to leave Real Madrid or that Liverpool have agreed a deal to bring him back. He remains a Real Madrid player, with his contract running until 2031. ⚪
Interestingly, Trent has recently been recalled to the England squad, giving him another opportunity to rebuild his momentum after missing the 2026 World Cup. Thomas Tuchel has challenged him to fight for his place and prove himself. 🏴🔥
