Manchester United are reportedly keeping a very close eye on Lens wonderkid Mezian Mesloub, with the 16-year-old already attracting serious attention from clubs across Europe. 🇫🇷🌍
Mesloub is not your ordinary academy prospect. The attacking midfielder has already stepped into senior football at an incredibly young age and made an unforgettable first impression. On his Ligue 1 debut against Nantes in May, he came off the bench and scored just five seconds after entering the pitch, helping Lens secure a 1–0 victory. 🤯🔥
And he has continued breaking new ground.
In September, Mesloub became the youngest Lens player to start a Ligue 1 match in more than six decades, starting against Monaco at just 16 years, 10 months and 10 days old. 🥶⭐
United’s scouting department have reportedly been carrying out extensive work on the youngster as they assess whether he could become a long-term target. His technical ability, creativity, vision and confidence in attacking situations have made him one of the emerging teenage names attracting attention in European football. 👀🔴
⚡ MESLOUB’S RISE HAS BEEN RAPID
The youngster has spent eight years at Lens and signed his first professional contract with the club in July 2026. Lens sporting director Jean-Louis Leca has praised his technical qualities and ability to connect with teammates, while stressing that his development is still at an early stage.
Mesloub primarily operates in attacking positions and has been used as an inverted right-sided attacker. Reports describe him as a player capable of carrying the ball, creating chances, playing incisive passes and threatening from distance. 🎯🔥
🚨 BUT UNITED HAVE A HUGE OBSTACLE
Manchester United cannot simply swoop in and bring him to Carrington immediately.
Because of the restrictions surrounding international transfers of under-18 players following Brexit, an overseas teenager such as Mesloub generally cannot join an English club before turning 18. Born on 8 November 2009, he would therefore reach the required age in November 2027, meaning a move to England could potentially become possible from the January 2028 transfer window, assuming the regulations and circumstances remain unchanged. ⏳🏴☠️
And United are certainly not alone in watching him. Arsenal and Chelsea have reportedly been monitoring the Lens youngster, while Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco are also interested. Barcelona, Atlético Madrid and RB Leipzig have likewise been mentioned among clubs keeping tabs on his development. 🌍👀
🔴 UNITED’S ACADEMY PLANS COULD MAKE THIS ONE EVEN MORE INTERESTING
The reported interest comes while United are dealing with uncertainty surrounding another highly-rated academy prospect, JJ Gabriel. Reports say the club remain keen to keep Gabriel but are also exploring alternatives, with Mesloub emerging as one of the names being monitored.
For now, there is no indication that Manchester United have agreed a deal for Mesloub. This is a long-term scouting situation rather than an imminent transfer.
But one thing is already clear: the 16-year-old Lens sensation has put himself firmly on the radar of some of Europe’s biggest clubs. 🚨🔥
And if Mesloub continues developing at this incredible rate, Manchester United may have to keep watching him very closely until that January 2028 window arrives. 👀🔴⚡
