Benjamin Šeško is beginning to show exactly why Manchester United invested heavily in him. 🇸🇮🔴
After missing United’s entire pre-season while recovering from a shin problem, the Slovenian striker gradually worked his way back into Michael Carrick’s plans. His return has already produced important moments. ⚡
Šeško came off the bench against Everton and scored a late header, giving United the lead before Ainsley Maitland-Niles equalised in stoppage time. Just days later, he found the net again in United’s 4–0 Champions League victory over Sabah.
That Sabah goal was particularly encouraging. Šeško timed his run perfectly, raced beyond the defence, rounded the goalkeeper and calmly finished into an empty net. It showcased the combination Carrick has highlighted: pace, physical presence and the ability to threaten the space behind defenders.
Carrick has previously spoken about Šeško offering United a different type of attacking threat, particularly because of his ability to operate on the last line of defence. 🔥
The striker also finished United’s 2025/26 campaign strongly, scoring 12 goals in his debut season despite missing time through injury.
The big question now is whether Šeško can stay fit and build a sustained run of matches. United have attacking options around him, but a fully fit Šeško gives Carrick a genuine No.9 who can stretch defences, attack crosses and threaten in behind.
And when the Slovenian starts finding his rhythm, United’s attack suddenly looks a lot more dangerous. 👀🔥
The striker is back. The goals are coming. And Šeško may have only just started. 🔴⚡
