Manchester United are reportedly monitoring Wesley França, with the Roma right wing-back emerging as a potential target for the club’s defensive rebuild ahead of the 2027 summer transfer window. Reports say United’s recruitment department has been impressed by the Brazilian and sees him as an option for the right side of the defence.
Wesley, 23, joined Roma from Flamengo in July 2025 after making more than 100 first-team appearances in Brazil. He also made his senior Brazil debut against Colombia in March 2025.
What makes him particularly interesting is his attacking profile. Wesley is naturally a right-back/right wing-back, but his pace, athleticism and willingness to push forward allow him to operate much higher up the pitch when required. He has also shown that he can contribute in the final third.
United’s reported interest comes as the club looks at adding three defenders next summer: a left-back, a centre-back and a right-back. Wesley is being considered for that right-sided role.
Roma, however, are understood to value him highly. He signed a contract running until 2030, meaning United would likely face a significant financial hurdle if they decide to make a serious approach.
There is also a potential twist: Wesley is scheduled to face Manchester United when Roma visit Old Trafford in the Champions League on November 3, 2026. 👀🏟️
That could be a fascinating night for United supporters to watch the Brazilian up close.
Wesley on United’s radar. Roma want to keep him. And Old Trafford will soon get a first-hand look at the player everyone is talking about. 🔴🔥🇧🇷
