David Raum Says YES to Manchester United? January Transfer Could Be Getting Serious

Manchester United may have received a major boost in their search for a new left-back, with RB Leipzig captain David Raum reportedly open to making the move to Old Trafford in January.

The German international has emerged as one of the options United are considering after the club failed to strengthen the left-back position during the summer. Reports suggest Raum could be available for around £30m, while his contract situation at Leipzig makes the January window particularly interesting. (Sports Mole)

Raum would certainly bring something different to United’s defence. The 28-year-old is an aggressive attacking full-back, capable of providing width, delivering dangerous crosses and contributing in the final third. His record at Leipzig has already shown his attacking quality, with 30 assists in 145 competitive appearances for the club. (Bundesliga)

And there is another reason this situation could become very interesting.

Raum’s current Leipzig contract runs until 2027, and the German club have already confirmed that they want to discuss a possible extension with their captain. That puts Leipzig in a difficult position because allowing the situation to run down could reduce their leverage in a future transfer. (Bundesliga)

Manchester United have reportedly been looking at several solutions for the position, including Raum and Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde. With the club still searching for a reliable long-term option on the left, Raum’s reported willingness to consider Old Trafford could make him one of the most realistic January targets. For Michael Carrick, this could be exactly the type of signing United need.

Luke Shaw remains an experienced option, but United need greater reliability and competition at left-back. Patrick Dorgu is still developing, while Harry Amass is another young option who may need more time before becoming a regular starter. A proven Germany international like Raum could immediately raise the competition for that position.

The big question now is whether United are prepared to make Leipzig an offer they cannot ignore.

Raum has previously acknowledged interest in his situation while stopping short of confirming talks with another club. He has also been linked with a Premier League move, meaning the idea of playing in England is certainly not new. (livescore.com)

If the reports of his openness to a January move are accurate, the door could now be wide open.

Manchester United need a left-back.

David Raum could be available.

And the player may be ready to say yes.

Could this be the January transfer that finally solves United’s left-back problem?
