Jarell Quansah’s future is suddenly becoming one of the hottest defensive transfer stories in Europe, with Real Madrid, Chelsea and Arsenal all keeping tabs on the Bayer Leverkusen star. But there is one major problem for all of them: Liverpool still have control of the situation. 👀
Quansah has developed significantly since leaving Anfield for Leverkusen in 2025. The 23-year-old England international has established himself as a versatile defender capable of playing both centre-back and right-back, a quality that has reportedly caught the attention of Real Madrid.
🇪🇸 Real Madrid are now monitoring him closely as they consider long-term defensive reinforcements. His ability to operate in multiple defensive positions makes him an attractive option for the Spanish giants, who are reportedly assessing their defensive needs ahead of 2027.
But Liverpool may have already played their biggest card. 🃏🔴
When the Reds sold Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen for around €35 million in 2025, they reportedly negotiated a €70 million buy-back option. Crucially, Liverpool can activate that option until 15 June 2027.
That means if Real Madrid come knocking, Liverpool don’t necessarily have to sit back and watch their former academy defender disappear to Spain. They can potentially step in, trigger the clause and bring Quansah back to Merseyside. 😳🔥
And the competition is getting serious.
🔵 Chelsea have reportedly shown interest in the defender.
🔴 Arsenal were already heavily linked with Quansah and reportedly had a €65m offer rejected by Leverkusen.
🇪🇸 Real Madrid are now monitoring the situation, adding another heavyweight to the race.
Quansah’s rise has been remarkable. After progressing through Liverpool’s academy from a young age, he made his senior debut in 2023 and went on to make 58 competitive appearances for Liverpool before moving to Germany. His development at Leverkusen has since earned him regular England recognition.
Now Liverpool face a fascinating decision. 🤔
Do they spend €70m to bring their former academy product home, or allow him to continue his career elsewhere while Europe’s biggest clubs fight over his signature?
There is also a huge irony to the situation. Liverpool sold Quansah partly to give him the opportunity to develop and play more regularly. If his development continues at this rate, the Reds could eventually find themselves paying considerably more to get back the player they already produced. 😭💰
And with his ability to play both centrally and at right-back, Quansah could potentially offer Liverpool valuable defensive flexibility for years to come.
🚨 REAL MADRID WANT HIM. CHELSEA ARE WATCHING. ARSENAL HAVE ALREADY TRIED.
But Liverpool have something none of those clubs possess…
A €70M buy-back button with an expiry date. 🔴💣
The countdown to 15 June 2027 could become VERY interesting. 👀⏳
Liverpool fans, would you bring Jarell Quansah back to Anfield for €70M? 🔥🔴
