Alejandro Balde could be on the verge of a huge comeback to the Barcelona starting XI when Hansi Flick’s side return to La Liga against Getafe on Saturday. 👀🔥
The Spanish left-back has found himself surprisingly low in the pecking order at the beginning of the 2026/27 campaign, with Xavi Espart and João Cancelo getting the nod ahead of him. Balde had not featured in Barça’s first five competitive matches when the season began, making his current situation one of the more intriguing selection battles in Flick’s squad.
But now, the door could finally be opening. 🚪🔥
The international break has created a fascinating situation for Flick. Cancelo was heavily involved with Portugal, even scoring in their 2–1 victory over Norway, while Espart was also away with Spain Under-21s. With Barcelona preparing for a demanding run of fixtures, Flick has every reason to carefully manage the workload of his international stars.
And guess who has been waiting patiently? 👀
Alejandro Balde. 💙❤️
Balde was among the small group of first-team players available to Flick when Barcelona returned to training following the extended international break. Reports also indicate that he has been training with the group as Barça prepare for their return against Getafe.
That could give the 22-year-old an enormous opportunity.
A starting role against Getafe would not simply be another appearance. It could be Balde’s chance to remind Flick why Barcelona once viewed him as one of the most exciting young full-backs in Europe. ⚡🔥
His pace, aggressive overlapping runs and ability to drive forward from deep could provide Barça with another dimension on the left. And with the Blaugrana entering an incredibly demanding period, having a fully motivated Balde back in the rotation could be a massive boost. 💪🔵🔴
The timing is also interesting because Barcelona’s schedule is about to become absolutely brutal. After Getafe, Flick’s men face Galatasaray, Real Betis, PSG, Real Madrid and Alavés in a packed October. Managing minutes will be crucial, particularly after a long international break.
And Barça are certainly not going into the Getafe game lacking confidence. 😮💨🔥
Barcelona have won all seven of their opening La Liga matches, scoring a staggering 31 goals and collecting 21 points. Getafe, meanwhile, have managed two wins from their first seven matches.
So the stage is set. 🏟️
Balde has been waiting. Flick has options. Cancelo and Espart have been putting in the minutes.
Now, could the forgotten Barça star finally get his chance to explode back onto the scene? 👀💥
If Flick hands him that starting spot against Getafe, Balde has one simple mission: make it impossible for the manager to leave him out again. 🔥💙❤️
