Hansi Flick has finally admitted that Sunday’s blockbuster El Clásico against Real Madrid influenced his decisions during Barcelona’s Champions League showdown with Paris Saint-Germain! 😳⚔️
The German tactician had one eye on the European battle in Paris and another on the massive clash awaiting his team this weekend. And his decision to leave Rodri on the bench has now become a major talking point among Barcelona supporters! 👀💣
Speaking after Barcelona’s 4-2 defeat to PSG, Flick acknowledged that the upcoming Clásico had influenced his thinking. The midfielder had played significant minutes for both club and country, so the coach decided to manage his workload rather than immediately throw him into another demanding encounter. 🧠⚽
“If it wasn’t for Real Madrid on Sunday, Rodri would have started the game,” was the message behind Flick’s explanation. The coach also expressed confidence in Marc Bernal, who stepped into the starting lineup in Rodri’s absence. 🔥
But Rodri was not the only player whose minutes needed careful management. Flick also had to consider the physical condition of his squad, with Barcelona dealing with defensive injury concerns ahead of two demanding fixtures. Reports following the PSG game highlighted the importance of protecting key players while preparing for Sunday’s showdown. 😰🚑
Unfortunately for Barça, the rotation did not deliver the desired result in Paris. Barcelona suffered a 4-2 defeat, with PSG punishing defensive weaknesses and mistakes in possession. Nevertheless, the Catalan side showed moments of quality, and young Xavi Espart impressed on his Champions League debut. 🇫🇷💥
Now, all eyes turn to El Clásico! 👑🔥
Barcelona will need to recover quickly, correct their defensive mistakes and make sure their most important players are ready for the battle against their fiercest rivals. Real Madrid will be eager to take advantage of any weakness, while Flick knows that Sunday’s encounter could have a huge impact on the mood and momentum surrounding his team.
The big question is whether resting Rodri and managing other players’ minutes will pay off when Barcelona face Madrid. Flick has made his decision, and now the players must deliver on the pitch! 🔵🔴💪
💥 CULERS, BE HONEST!
Was Hansi Flick right to think ahead to El Clásico, or should Barcelona have gone all out against PSG without worrying about Sunday’s match? 🤔🔥
And do you believe a fresh Rodri could make the difference against Real Madrid? 👇⚽
