Barcelona are reportedly preparing for a major defensive operation ahead of the January 2027 transfer window, and this time, the message from the club is clear: Hansi Flick needs an experienced centre-back who can deliver immediately! 😳🔥
Following consecutive defeats against Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, Barcelona’s defensive weaknesses have become increasingly difficult to ignore. The Catalan giants believe strengthening the heart of their defence is now a major priority if they want to compete for both La Liga and the Champions League.
According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, sporting director Deco is examining four potential defensive targets, with some very interesting names appearing on Barcelona’s shortlist. 👀
🔵🔴 FOUR DEFENDERS REPORTEDLY ON BARÇA’S RADAR!
🇭🇷 1. Joško Gvardiol – Manchester City
Gvardiol is reportedly Barcelona’s dream signing. The Croatian international is physically strong, technically gifted and capable of playing both centre-back and left-back.
However, convincing Manchester City to sell him will be extremely difficult, especially considering his long-term contract until 2031.
🇮🇹 2. Alessandro Bastoni – Inter Milan
Bastoni is another defender admired by Barcelona. The Italian international possesses excellent passing ability, composure and experience at the highest level.
He could be an outstanding partner for Pau Cubarsí, although Inter Milan are unlikely to make negotiations easy.
🇦🇷 3. Lisandro Martínez – Manchester United
Now this is an interesting possibility! 👀
The World Cup-winning Argentine defender could offer Barcelona aggression, leadership, excellent ball distribution and the mentality required to compete at the highest level.
His contractual situation at Manchester United could make him an interesting option, although his injury history remains a concern.
🇧🇷 4. Natan – Real Betis
Natan could be one of the more realistic options. The Brazilian defender has impressed in Spanish football and offers physical strength, defensive ability and familiarity with La Liga.
His reported valuation of around €30 million could also make him an attractive alternative.
💥 DECO HAS A BIG DECISION TO MAKE!
Barcelona are not simply looking for another defender to increase squad numbers. They want someone experienced, reliable and ready to help immediately.
Pau Cubarsí remains an important part of the club’s future, but giving the young Spaniard an experienced partner could make a huge difference to Barcelona’s defensive stability.
Financial limitations and potential player departures could also influence which deal becomes possible.
The big question now is whether Barcelona will go for an expensive superstar or choose a more affordable defender who can strengthen Flick’s system.
👀 CULERS, LET’S SETTLE THIS DEBATE!
Who would you bring to Camp Nou?
🔥 Gvardiol ❤️ Bastoni 💪 Lisandro Martínez 💎 Natan
Personally, Barcelona need a defender who can bring leadership, physicality and consistency. The defence needs serious attention!
