Barcelona could have a genuine opportunity to strengthen their defence with one of Europe’s most highly rated centre-backs.
🇮🇹 Alessandro Bastoni remains open to the possibility of joining Barcelona, despite currently being an important player at Inter Milan.
However, there is reportedly one important condition the Italian defender wants fulfilled before considering such a move.
Bastoni wants Hansi Flick to personally demonstrate that he genuinely wants him at Barcelona. The defender wants to feel that he is a priority for the German manager and that he would have an important role in the team’s long-term project. 🤝
This could be a significant development for Barcelona, particularly after their recent defensive struggles against Europe’s biggest opponents.
Bastoni possesses many of the qualities Flick would appreciate. He is comfortable playing out from the back, has excellent passing ability, reads the game intelligently and can help Barcelona build attacks from deeper positions.
At 27, he also brings valuable experience at the highest level and could provide the leadership and defensive quality Barcelona need.
However, convincing Inter to part ways with one of their most important defenders would be another major challenge. Barcelona would also need to find a financially realistic way to complete the operation.
The interesting question now is whether Flick is prepared to personally push for the signing and convince Bastoni that Camp Nou is the right destination for the next chapter of his career.
Imagine Bastoni partnering Pau Cubarsí in Barcelona’s defence! That could be a very exciting combination! 😍🔥
