England have come under criticism from Serbia following their recent World Cup qualifier. Serbian head coach Dragan Stojković accused the English players of provoking behavior throughout the match.
After Serbia raised the issue formally, England manager Thomas Tuchel responded with a short and blunt statement. His words, however, only fueled Stojković’s frustration, leading to an even stronger backlash from the Serbian side.
Stojković’s Strong Accusations
In his post-match comments, Stojković directly accused England’s players of engaging in unsporting conduct. He claimed they relied on constant provocation and disrespectful tactics that disrupted the flow of the game.
The Serbian coach emphasized that such behavior went beyond fair competition and contributed significantly to the outcome of the match.
Allegations of Disrespect
Stojković insisted that his players were subjected to persistent taunts and psychological pressure during the encounter. He argued that these actions crossed the line of professionalism expected at the international level.
“We came to play football, but we were not allowed to do so,” Stojković said. “It’s one thing to compete, but it’s another to provoke and disrespect your opponents. This kind of behavior is not acceptable, and it doesn’t belong in international football.”
