Barcelona are reportedly remaining calm in their search for a new striker and are not prepared to panic or overspend just to bring in a No. 9 this summer. The club’s preferred target remains Julián Álvarez, but Barça are determined to protect their financial position rather than pay an excessive fee.

That confidence comes partly from the attacking reinforcements already brought into Hansi Flick’s squad. The arrivals of Karim Adeyemi and Anthony Gordon have given Flick significantly more pace and flexibility in the final third. Both players are capable of operating from wide positions, while their speed fits perfectly with the aggressive, vertical football Flick wants to play.
Adeyemi’s versatility could be particularly important. The German forward can operate from either wing or through the middle, giving Flick the option of using him as an emergency striker if required. Gordon also possesses the physicality, movement and directness to be pushed into a central attacking role.
