Barcelona’s decision to bring Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund has added another explosive weapon to Hansi Flick’s attacking arsenal. ⚡🔵🔴
The German forward completed his move to Barça in July 2026, signing a contract that runs until 2031. The deal reunited Adeyemi with Flick, who handed him his senior Germany debut back in 2021.
And the move was far from accidental. Barcelona’s sporting director Deco had identified Adeyemi as an attractive attacking option, while reports at the time indicated that the player was keen on making the switch to Catalonia. Negotiations with Dortmund eventually resulted in an agreement worth around €22 million up front, with additional performance-related payments.

His Dortmund numbers also show why Barcelona were interested. He left Germany after making 146 appearances, scoring 36 goals and providing 24 assists across competitions.

Barcelona have added Adeyemi alongside Anthony Gordon as part of a wider effort to increase competition and attacking depth. Recent reporting has highlighted how Flick can rotate his forwards without completely losing speed, pressing intensity or goal threat.
With players like Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Gordon and Adeyemi competing for attacking roles, Flick suddenly has plenty of different combinations to choose from.
The real question now isn’t whether Adeyemi has the speed to succeed at Barça.
