Michael Carrick is reportedly being encouraged to trust Manchester United’s young right-back options as the club continues its push toward building a younger, more energetic squad.
The message from inside the club is clear: if there are talented youngsters knocking on the first-team door, they must be given a genuine opportunity to prove themselves.
Jaydan Kamason has already shown why he deserves attention. The 19-year-old impressed during United’s pre-season, providing two assists in the 5-0 win over Rosenborg and showing the attacking energy that modern full-backs need. (Sky Sports)
United also have other young defensive options competing for opportunities, with the club’s retained list including Kamason, Diego Leon, Harry Amass and other promising defenders.
That creates an interesting question for Carrick.
Why block the pathway of two hungry young players who are desperate to establish themselves by automatically choosing an experienced 31-year-old?
Experience matters, but so does development. If INEOS genuinely want Manchester United to build around youth, then Carrick may be expected to make bold decisions and give the next generation a real chance.
Kamason’s performance against Rosenborg already showed that young players can make an immediate impact when trusted. Carrick has also spoken positively about allowing United’s youngsters to play with confidence and express themselves. (beIN SPORTS)
The pressure is now on.
If these young right-backs are good enough, Carrick has to be brave enough to use them.
Manchester United cannot keep talking about building for the future while repeatedly choosing the past. The youngsters need minutes, responsibility and a genuine pathway into the first team. 🚨🔥
