Chelsea’s reported interest in strengthening their attacking options could take an interesting turn following their 2-0 victory over Manchester United, with Morgan Rogers allegedly identifying a United forward as someone he would love to have alongside him at Stamford Bridge.
According to the circulating claims, Rogers was reportedly impressed by the unnamed Manchester United player’s impact after coming off the bench, believing he showed enough quality to trouble Chelsea’s defence despite his limited playing time.
The Chelsea attacker allegedly feels that the forward is wasting his potential by spending too much time on the substitutes’ bench at Old Trafford.
Even more interestingly, Rogers reportedly believes the two could develop a devastating attacking partnership if they were given the opportunity to play together in London.
The alleged statement attributed to Rogers reads:
“He’s completely wasting his talent sitting on that bench at Manchester United. He was the only one who looked like a genuine threat against us when he came on.
“I’ve literally begged Xabi Alonso to make every available plan to bring him over to the blue side of London, because pairing me and him up front would make us completely unstoppable.”
If genuine, these comments would certainly create plenty of excitement among Chelsea supporters, particularly with the January transfer window approaching.
A partnership between Rogers and the unnamed United forward would be an interesting attacking prospect, but convincing Manchester United to part ways with one of their players could be a completely different challenge.
There is currently no independent confirmation that Rogers made these comments or that Chelsea have opened negotiations for the player.
