Barcelona has decided to move away from pursuing Zubimendi and Kimmich, as they are no longer top priorities for the club. Zubimendi’s interest waned after his negotiations with Arsenal and Real Madrid were exposed, and Laporta and Deco don’t believe paying 60 million euros for him is necessary. Regarding Kimmich, despite coach Hans-Dieter Flick pushing for the transfer, concerns over his high financial demands and those of his agent have caused the deal to be delayed.
With Marc Casado and Frenkie de Jong continuing to perform well in their positions, Barcelona is less eager to pursue a new player for that role. Casado, although experiencing a dip in form recently, has shown great potential in his first season, and at just 21 years old, the team still has confidence in him. De Jong, on the other hand, has been consistently solid, though his future at the club remains uncertain as his contract runs out in 2026.
Barcelona isn’t in a rush, however, as they also have Marc Bernal in the mix. The club is hopeful that Bernal, seen as a future star and potential replacement for Sergio Busquets, will continue to develop, especially after recovering from a serious injury. Bernal has impressed at the start of the season and has become one of coach Hansi Flick’s favorites. With this in mind, Laporta and Deco have offered him a contract extension, hoping to secure his services until 2029.
