Several former Manchester United stars are calling for Erik ten Hag to be removed from his managerial position at the club

Several former Manchester United stars are calling for Erik ten Hag to be removed from his managerial position at the club.

Following Manchester United’s disappointing defeat to West Ham, Paul Scholes openly criticized Ten Hag’s tactics, labeling them as “naive” in away fixtures, especially when facing stronger teams.

Under Ten Hag, United has consistently underperformed on the road, suffering losses against West Ham, Tottenham, Arsenal, and Newcastle. Scholes highlighted concerns with the team’s setup—particularly the decision to deploy just one holding midfielder in challenging away matches.

The surprise decision to start 19-year-old defender Willy Kambwala against West Ham also sparked debate and raised eyebrows.

This latest loss has increased the pressure on Ten Hag, who is now under heightened scrutiny amid Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s potential investment in the club, which would give him a 25% ownership stake.

With the January transfer window on the horizon, Ten Hag’s ability to make tactical improvements and address United’s poor away form will be critical to the team’s performance moving forward.
