“I completely understand why fans might be upset. I’ve supported Liverpool my entire life—this club gave me the platform to succeed and achieve so much,” Trent explained. “As a fan growing up, I felt the same way when my favorite players left. There’s an emotional bond when players bring success to the club, so I get it. I know this decision will upset and even anger people.”
He added that he considered those emotional ties before making his decision: “No one wants to let others down or cause disappointment. But in the end, I had to do what was best for me. It was a tough call that weighed on me for a long time, but being open about it now is a relief.”
