Real Madrid Eyes William Saliba as Defensive Leader – Arsenal Considers Diomande as Possible Replacement
Real Madrid is reportedly targeting Arsenal’s William Saliba, intending to make him the centerpiece of their defense either this summer or next. The French defender is currently valued at just over €100 million.
According to L’Équipe, Saliba’s representatives have been in talks with Madrid for several weeks, even as Arsenal prepares to face PSG in the Champions League semi-finals. Despite media speculation and scrutiny over his performances, Madrid remains keen, undeterred by his contract, which still has two years remaining. Notably, Madrid seems to be the only club that appeals to the player, though Saliba is not actively pushing for a move.
However, in a recent interview, Saliba expressed happiness at Arsenal and stated he’s in no rush to sign a new deal, suggesting he’s content with his current situation.
In anticipation of a possible departure, Arsenal is reportedly eyeing Sporting CP’s Ousmane Diomande as a potential replacement. The Ivorian center-back has drawn attention from several Premier League clubs, with his price tag rumored to be around £68 million.
