Premier League Defender Jamie Carragher Praised Likely Liverpool Target Milos Kerkez for His Aggressive Style

Milos Kerkez has become Liverpool’s top candidate for the left-back position, as reported by football journalist David Ornstein. The Hungarian defender has impressed multiple elite clubs, but Liverpool’s interest is reportedly the strongest heading into the next transfer window.

As Liverpool prepares for the 2024/25 season under new manager Arne Slot—who has surpassed expectations in his debut year—the club is now turning its attention to the transfer market.

Liverpool Shifts Focus to Strengthening Squad

Following a dominant Premier League title-winning season, the Reds are planning strategic reinforcements across various positions. They were consistently top of the table, rarely facing serious threats.

Discussing potential signings, Ornstein said the club continues to prioritize the striker role but is also heavily considering the left-back position, with Kerkez seen as the frontrunner. However, Liverpool is expected to explore alternative options too. He noted the right-back position isn’t a current priority, thanks to the presence of Conor Bradley and Joe Gomez.

Kerkez, currently with Bournemouth, fits well with Arne Slot’s tactical approach. He contributes both defensively and in attack, making him a strong candidate to compete with Andy Robertson at left-back.

Right-Back Reinforcements Not Urgent

Despite the likely departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool feels confident about their right-back depth and is not urgently seeking new players for that side of the pitch.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher praised Kerkez’s Premier League impact, saying:
“Kerkez has been a standout at Bournemouth. He’s quick, aggressive, and always pushing forward down the left flank.”
