Manchester United Confirm Second Summer Exit as Squad Overhaul Continues
Manchester United have confirmed the departure of a second player this summer as part of a wide-scale squad restructuring led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS. While the club has yet to publicly disclose the name of the player leaving, the move is part of preparations for the upcoming season under new head coach Ruben Amorim, who plans to implement a 3-4-3 tactical system.
Several high-profile names—including Altay Bayindir, Jadon Sancho, Antony, and Marcus Rashford—are reportedly being considered for potential sales. The club is open to offers as they aim to build a team better suited to Amorim’s vision.
This shake-up follows a turbulent Premier League campaign where United narrowly avoided relegation, finishing dangerously close to 17th place. However, they still have a shot at turning their season around with an upcoming Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur. A victory would not only bring a trophy and Champions League qualification but also provide a financial boost for summer signings.
Regardless of the Europa League result, Manchester United are expected to have a transfer budget of at least £100 million. That figure could double if the club manages to sell players like Rashford, Sancho, and Antony—although some insiders believe that projection is overly optimistic. For example, Chelsea may opt to pay a £5 million penalty to terminate Sancho’s loan instead of activating the £25 million buy clause. Meanwhile, Aston Villa’s reported interest in Rashford remains unconfirmed.
In terms of incoming transfers, Wolves striker Matheus Cunha is a top target, with hopes that Amorim can effectively handle his strong personality. United are also monitoring Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap, who may be available for around £30 million due to Ipswich’s recent relegation.
