Barcelona’s never-ending striker search has reportedly produced another unexpected name: Igor Thiago. 🇧🇷👀
The Brazilian striker has reportedly been offered to Barça for around €60 million, with his representatives presenting him as a young South American forward who could develop into a top-level No. 9 in the same mould as Julián Álvarez.
But there’s one tiny problem…

After all the noise surrounding Álvarez, it would be quite the twist if Barça suddenly ended up settling for another Brazilian striker instead.
Thiago is certainly not an unknown player. The Brentford forward enjoyed a breakout 2025/26 campaign, scoring 25 goals in all competitions, including 22 in the Premier League, and he was subsequently rewarded with a new contract running until 2031. Brentford have publicly described him as a key part of their project.
But €60 million is still serious money. 💰
And with Barcelona actively pursuing a new striker following Robert Lewandowski’s departure, the club has to make sure it doesn’t simply jump at the next available option. Current reports indicate that Julián Álvarez remains the priority, while Barcelona have also explored alternatives such as Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi.
So, Barça fans have every right to ask:
