Arsenal have officially completed the signing of Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa, and the Gunners have wasted absolutely no time making another major statement in their title-defending campaign. 💣🔴⚪️
The England international has arrived at the Emirates in a deal worth £51 million guaranteed, with a further £4 million available in add-ons, taking the potential package to £55 million. Konsa has also signed a four-year contract with an option for an additional year.
And there is already a fresh number waiting for him in north London: No. 15! 👕🔥
For Arsenal, this is not simply another squad signing. Mikel Arteta desperately wanted additional defensive quality, particularly with William Saliba facing an extended absence and Jurrien Timber also dealing with injury problems. Konsa now gives the manager another experienced, physically strong and versatile option at the back.
The 28-year-old has built an impressive reputation during his Aston Villa career. After joining Villa from Brentford in 2019, he went on to make 286 appearances for the club, becoming one of their most trusted defenders. He was also heavily involved in Villa’s Europa League-winning campaign last season, making 48 appearances, before representing England at the 2026 World Cup. 🌍🏆
What makes Konsa particularly attractive to Arteta is his versatility. He can operate naturally as a centre-back but is also capable of playing at right-back, giving Arsenal another tactical weapon when injuries, suspensions and fixture congestion begin to pile up. ⚔️
Arsenal reportedly considered other defensive options, including Jarell Quansah, but ultimately settled on Konsa because of his Premier League experience and ability to immediately compete at the highest level.
And Konsa isn’t arriving at Arsenal simply to make up the numbers.
His message after completing the move was brutally clear: he wants to keep winning. 🏆😤
That mentality fits perfectly with what Arteta is building. Arsenal are no longer satisfied with simply competing for trophies. After winning the Premier League, the ambition is now to stay at the top and establish themselves as one of England’s dominant forces.
Konsa’s arrival could therefore prove extremely important as Arsenal attempt to defend their crown. With Premier League experience, international pedigree and the ability to cover multiple defensive positions, he gives Arteta another reliable piece for what promises to be a brutal season. 🔥
There is also something deliciously interesting about his potential debut.
Konsa could reportedly face his former club Aston Villa at Villa Park on August 31, giving him the possibility of making his Arsenal bow against the team he represented for six seasons. 😳🔥
Imagine that storyline!
Former Villa defender returns to Villa Park… but this time wearing Arsenal red. 👀🔴
The No. 15 shirt is now his. The Emirates awaits. The Premier League champions have added another England international to their defensive arsenal.
£51m guaranteed. £55m potentially. Four years plus an option. No. 15 on his back.
Arsenal aren’t playing around. 😮💨🔥🔴⚪️
