Martin Ødegaard has wasted absolutely no time putting last season’s struggles behind him, and Arsenal fans are beginning to see the captain they know and love again. 😮💨🔥
The Norwegian playmaker has started the new campaign in sensational fashion, scoring in consecutive matches and already surpassing his entire goal tally from the previous Premier League season. What a turnaround! 🤯
Ødegaard opened his account in Arsenal’s emphatic 3️⃣-0️⃣ Community Shield victory over Manchester City, producing a composed finish to complete a statement win over the reigning Premier League giants.
Then came the Premier League opener against Coventry City, and once again, the Arsenal skipper was on the scoresheet. Ødegaard added Arsenal’s third goal in another 3️⃣-0️⃣ victory, helping the champions begin their title defence in style.
That means Ødegaard has already scored twice in the new campaign, matching his goal tally from the entire 2025/26 Premier League season in just two matches. Even more impressively, reports note that he has scored in back-to-back games after enduring a difficult, injury-interrupted campaign last season.
And it isn’t just the goals that have Arsenal supporters excited. Against Coventry, Ødegaard was back at the centre of everything, dictating play, combining with Bukayo Saka and helping Arsenal control the game from midfield. He registered 72 touches and completed 55 passes as the Gunners cruised to victory.
This is exactly the Ødegaard Arsenal need.
Last season was frustrating for the captain, with injuries disrupting his rhythm and limiting his influence. Now, after helping Arsenal lift the Premier League trophy last season and returning with renewed confidence, the 27-year-old looks determined to make this campaign a personal statement.
There is also a bigger picture here. Arsenal are defending their Premier League crown, and Ødegaard remains one of the most important pieces of Mikel Arteta’s system. His ability to control tempo, create openings, connect midfield with attack and now consistently add goals makes him a nightmare for opponents when he is operating at full capacity. 🔥
And Arsenal fans have every reason to be excited.
Two games. Two goals. A trophy already secured. A dominant opening-day victory. And a captain who looks hungry to take his game to another level. 😤🏆
If Ødegaard keeps producing at this rate, defenders across England are going to have a serious problem on their hands. 👀
The captain is back. The goals are flowing. Arsenal are cooking. 🔴⚪️🔥
