🚨 DORGU’S ATTACKING EXPERIMENT BACKFIRES AS RASHFORD SHOWS UNITED WHAT THEY’VE BEEN MISSING! 🔥🔴

Manchester United’s frustrating afternoon against Hull City has reignited a major tactical debate: is Patrick Dorgu really the answer on the left side of the attack, or is the experiment simply taking him away from his best position? 👀

Dorgu was handed an attacking role in United’s Premier League opener, but the youngster struggled to make the desired impact as the Red Devils suffered a shock 2-0 defeat to newly promoted Hull City. United dominated possession but repeatedly lacked the sharpness, penetration and attacking threat needed to break Hull down.

And that is where the frustration comes in. 😤

Dorgu has the physical qualities to be a nightmare for defenders. He is quick, powerful and capable of carrying the ball forward, but playing further up the pitch demands a different set of qualities. His decision-making in the final third, movement without the ball and ability to consistently create danger are still areas where he appears to be developing.

Even United’s own pre-season coverage highlighted Dorgu’s involvement in an advanced left-flank role, showing that the coaching staff have clearly been exploring how much attacking responsibility he can handle.

But against Hull, the gamble failed to pay off. 💥

Then came Marcus Rashford.

The returning forward was introduced for Dorgu and immediately provided a different attacking profile. Rashford’s pace, willingness to run beyond the defence and experience in dangerous areas offered United another dimension, even though he ultimately couldn’t rescue the team from defeat.

For many supporters, the contrast was enough to raise an obvious question:

Why continue forcing Dorgu into an attacking position when Rashford is available? 🤔

Dorgu arguably looks far more natural when he has the pitch in front of him from left-back. From that position, he can use his athleticism to overlap, drive forward and attack space without carrying the same responsibility as a conventional winger.

And with Luke Shaw also part of the defensive equation, Carrick now faces a fascinating selection dilemma. 👀

The argument isn’t necessarily that Dorgu cannot become an effective winger. At just 21, there is plenty of time for him to develop his attacking game. But Manchester United need solutions right now, especially after being completely frustrated by Hull.

The bigger concern is that United’s defeat exposed problems beyond one player’s position. Hull scored both goals from set pieces, while United struggled to turn their 72% possession into meaningful attacking production.

So perhaps the answer isn’t complicated.

Put Dorgu back at left-back. 🔴🛡️

Let him attack from deeper positions where his pace and power can become weapons rather than asking him to operate like a traditional winger.

And if Rashford continues to show that he can provide greater danger from the left, then the competition for that position suddenly becomes very interesting. 🔥

One disappointing performance shouldn’t define Dorgu, but it certainly gives Michael Carrick something to think about before Manchester United’s next game.

Dorgu at left-back. Rashford higher up. Could that be the combination United need? 👀🔴🔥
