The 19-year-old didn’t just entertain the Barcelona supporters. He created goals, scored a spectacular free-kick and, most importantly, wore the Barcelona captain’s armband for the first time.
After Raphinha was substituted, the armband was handed to Yamal. At just 19 years old, he became the youngest player to captain Barcelona’s first team, adding another remarkable record to his already extraordinary career.
Yamal marked the historic moment in style. He stepped up to take a direct free-kick and produced a brilliant finish to score the first direct free-kick goal of his professional career.
But he wasn’t finished.
Yamal provided two assists during the match, setting up Raphinha and Gabriel Jesus as Barcelona continued to dominate Feyenoord.
That meant the young winger was directly involved in three of Barça’s five goals, once again demonstrating just how influential he has become in the final third.
While Raphinha scored twice and Gabriel Jesus opened his Barcelona account, Yamal’s influence remained one of the biggest talking points of the night.
His performance showed why Barcelona are increasingly trusting him with greater responsibility despite his young age. He is no longer simply the exciting youngster trying to make an impression.
He is becoming one of the players expected to decide important moments for the club.
The expectations surrounding Yamal are enormous, but he continues to answer them with his performances on the pitch.
The goals are coming. The assists are coming. The records are falling. And now, the Barcelona captain’s armband has been added to his growing list of achievements.
Lamine Yamal is not simply making history at Barcelona.
He is beginning to look like one of the players who could define the club’s next great era.
