Manchester United’s long-awaited return to the UEFA Champions League could hardly have gone better! 😮💨🔥 In front of a fired-up Old Trafford, Michael Carrick’s men delivered a dominant 4️⃣–0️⃣ victory over Sabah FK, sending an early warning to the rest of Europe. 💪🏆
After more than 1,000 days away from the competition, United looked determined to make their comeback count. The Reds eventually broke through when Matheus Cunha finished from Patrick Dorgu’s cross, giving the hosts the breakthrough they desperately wanted. ⚽🔥
Then came the captain! 👑 Bruno Fernandes doubled United’s advantage after a brilliant combination with Youri Tielemans, before Benjamin Šeško struck just before half-time after being released by Bryan Mbeumo. 💥🔴
Three goals before the break completely changed the mood inside Old Trafford. What had initially been a competitive contest suddenly became a night of United dominance. 😤🔥
And the Reds weren’t finished.
Lisandro Martínez added the fourth in the second half after a clever piece of play involving Joshua Zirkzee, putting the final stamp on a convincing European victory. 🇦🇷💣
📊 United finished with 21 shots and 3.67 expected goals, while Sabah managed 11 shots and 0.92 xG. The numbers underline just how much control Carrick’s side had over the night.
There were plenty of individual positives too. Kobbie Mainoo once again impressed in midfield, Tielemans showed his creativity, Dorgu provided an assist from the left and Šeško continued to make his case after scoring in his first Champions League start of the season. 🌟🔥
For Carrick, it was exactly the kind of European night United needed: goals, a clean sheet, confidence and momentum. 🧤✅
But there’s no time to celebrate for too long… 👀
The Champions League comeback has started with a bang, but the Manchester derby is already waiting. 🔴⚔️🔵
Can United take this confidence from Europe straight into the battle against Manchester City? 😳🔥
Old Trafford has its European nights back. And this time, United came to make noise. 👹🏆🔥
