Barcelona may have found exactly what they were missing in attack — and Anthony Gordon is wasting absolutely no time proving why the club pushed so hard to bring him to Camp Nou. 😳🔥

The English winger arrived from Newcastle United in the summer as Barcelona’s first major signing of the 2026/27 campaign, putting pen to paper on a contract that runs until 2031. Barça saw in Gordon a player capable of bringing something different to Hansi Flick’s attack: explosive pace, relentless pressing, direct running and the ability to attack space. (fcbarcelona.com)

And the early signs are already frightening. 👀⚡

Gordon has adapted almost immediately to Flick’s demanding system. Rather than needing months to settle into his new surroundings, the former Newcastle star has quickly established himself as an important part of Barcelona’s attacking unit alongside Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.

His official debut may have come against Elche, but what followed was even more impressive. Gordon needed only a few minutes to announce himself in spectacular fashion, providing two assists and immediately demonstrating the speed and intensity that Barcelona wanted from him. 🔥🎯

He has continued that form.

After four league matches, Gordon has already registered four assists, providing another assist against Rayo Vallecano and another against Valencia. He may still be waiting for his first Barcelona goal, but his influence is already obvious. (as.com)

And that is exactly why Flick isn’t worried about the lack of goals.

The German coach is getting everything else he wanted: pace, pressure, movement, penetration and chance creation. Gordon constantly stretches defensive lines and gives Barcelona another player capable of attacking behind defenders. 💨⚽

There is also another fascinating consequence.

Raphinha has increasingly been able to operate through the middle as a false nine, while Gordon occupies the left side and Lamine Yamal continues to provide danger from the opposite flank. Add Karim Adeyemi into the equation and suddenly Barcelona have an attack capable of changing its shape without losing intensity. 🤯🔵🔴

The competition for places is becoming serious.

Gordon knows he cannot relax. Adeyemi is pushing. Raphinha remains one of the team’s biggest stars. Lamine continues to develop into a global superstar. And Flick now has multiple attacking combinations at his disposal. 🔥

That was precisely the point of Gordon’s arrival.

Barcelona wanted greater depth and competition after injuries had disrupted their attacking options last season. The club reportedly invested €70 million plus up to €10 million in variables to bring Gordon from Newcastle, making him one of their biggest investments of the summer. (as.com)

And so far, the decision is looking inspired.

Even more interestingly, Barcelona have already reportedly agreed to postpone a €22 million instalment of the transfer payment to Newcastle until 2027, giving the Catalan club additional breathing room financially while Gordon continues to settle into life at Camp Nou. (eldesmarque.com)

From Newcastle star to Barcelona’s new attacking weapon, Gordon’s journey has moved incredibly quickly.

And if his early performances are anything to go by, Barça supporters may soon be looking back at this transfer and asking one question:

How did Barcelona manage to get Anthony Gordon? 😮‍💨🔥🔵🔴
