Hansi Flick believes something very special is happening at Barcelona. The German coach has made it clear that the current squad is not only stronger than last season, but also more complete in almost every department. And after the way Barça have started the 2026/27 campaign, it is becoming increasingly difficult to argue with him. 😮💨🔥
💥 “THIS IS BETTER THAN LAST SEASON”
Flick’s message is simple: this Barcelona team has taken another major step forward.
The biggest difference is not just the attacking firepower. Barça now have more options, more experience and more quality across the pitch. The squad has been strengthened in goal, defence and midfield, while the attack remains packed with game-changing talent.
With the transfer window now closed, Barcelona have a squad featuring players such as Joan García, João Cancelo, Jules Koundé, Pau Cubarsí, Andreas Christensen, Alejandro Balde, Pedri, Rodri, Gavi, Marc Bernal, Dani Olmo, Fermín López, Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Gabriel Jesus, Karim Adeyemi and Anthony Gordon. 🤯🔵🔴
That is some serious depth.
🧱🔥 FLICK: “DEFENCE IS JUST AS IMPORTANT”
One of the most interesting parts of Flick’s assessment is that he refuses to focus only on Barça’s frightening attack.
For years, Barcelona have been praised for their possession, creativity and attacking football, but Flick knows that trophies are also won through defensive stability.
The arrival of more options at the back, combined with the continued development of Pau Cubarsí and the experience of players like Koundé and Christensen, gives Flick greater freedom to rotate without completely changing the team’s identity.
And then there is the midfield…
🧠⚙️ RODRI + PEDRI + BERNAL = SERIOUS PROBLEM FOR RIVALS
Barcelona’s midfield may be where the biggest transformation has taken place.
Rodri brings something Barça have desperately wanted: control, experience, defensive intelligence and the ability to dictate the rhythm of a match. His understanding with Pedri has already shown signs of becoming a major weapon. 🇪🇸🔥
At the same time, Marc Bernal remains another exciting option for Flick.
That means Barça can combine experience with youth, control with creativity, and defensive security with attacking freedom.
Pedri can operate between the lines. Rodri can control the tempo. Bernal can provide energy and defensive balance.
And Flick now has Gavi, Fermín and Dani Olmo available to change the dynamic of games.
That is exactly what squad depth looks like. 😮💨
🚨🔵🔴 AND THE ATTACK IS STILL ABSOLUTELY SCARY!
If the midfield and defence have improved, the attack certainly has not been forgotten.
Lamine Yamal continues to look like one of the most dangerous young players in world football. Raphinha remains a major attacking threat, while the arrival of Gabriel Jesus, Karim Adeyemi and Anthony Gordon gives Flick even more options.
And when you remember that Fermín, Olmo and others can also contribute goals and creativity, Barcelona suddenly have multiple ways of hurting opponents.
The early results have already offered a glimpse of what this team can become.
Barça opened their Champions League campaign with a huge 5-1 victory over Feyenoord, while they also made a powerful start to their La Liga title defence. 🔥🏆
👀 EUROPE SHOULD BE PAYING ATTENTION
The most frightening thing for Barcelona’s rivals is that Flick does not believe this team is simply stronger because of one superstar signing.
He sees improvement across the entire squad.
Better depth.
More experience.
More competition for places.
More tactical options.
More defensive quality.
And perhaps most importantly, more players capable of deciding matches.
Flick now has the luxury of choosing between different profiles depending on the opponent, while keeping the same aggressive footballing identity.
🔥 THE BIG QUESTION: CAN THIS BARÇA FINALLY CONQUER EUROPE?
Barcelona have dominated domestically at different points in recent years, but the Champions League remains the ultimate test.
This squad looks built for that challenge.
With Rodri adding experience, Pedri controlling games, Cubarsí continuing to mature and Lamine Yamal leading an explosive attack alongside Raphinha and the rest of Barça’s attacking weapons, expectations are naturally rising.
Flick has already seen enough to declare that this is a better squad than last season.
And if the early performances are anything to go by…
🚨 Barça may not just have a better team.
They may have their most complete team of the Flick era. 🔵🔴🔥
The rebuilding is over.
Now comes the part every Barça fan has been waiting for…
🏆 TIME TO GO AFTER EUROPE. 😤🔥
