Liverpool’s international break has suddenly turned into a worrying one, with Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo both cutting their international duty short because of injuries. 😩❤️🩹
Isak was withdrawn from the Sweden squad after suffering what has been described as a minor thigh injury. The striker had just scored in Sweden’s 2–1 victory over Romania and has started the Premier League season strongly, finding the net four times in his first five league appearances. 🇸🇪⚽🔥
Then came another scare for the Reds. 😰
Cody Gakpo was forced off after only 17 minutes of the Netherlands’ 2–1 victory over Serbia after picking up an ankle injury. He initially tried to continue, but eventually had to be substituted. The Dutch federation confirmed that he would leave the squad and return to Liverpool for further assessment. 🩹🇳🇱
And this is exactly the kind of news Liverpool did not want.
The Reds’ next match after the international break is a huge Premier League showdown with Manchester City at Anfield on October 11, meaning there is now a major question mark over whether either attacker will be ready. 👀🔥
Gakpo has also been enjoying an excellent start to the campaign, reportedly contributing two goals and four assists while becoming an important part of Liverpool’s attacking rotation. Losing him at the same time as Isak would leave Andoni Iraola with a serious selection headache. 😬🔴
The situation becomes even more concerning because Liverpool are already managing other attacking fitness issues. If both Isak and Gakpo are unavailable for the City clash, the pressure could fall heavily on the remaining forwards to carry the attacking load. 😳
Liverpool fans will now be watching every medical update closely. The good news is that Isak’s injury has been described as minor, while Gakpo’s exact recovery timeline is still unclear pending further assessment at the club. 🙏❤️
One thing is certain: Liverpool simply cannot afford another major setback in attack. 🔴💔
The big question now is…
👀 WHOSE ABSENCE WOULD HURT LIVERPOOL MORE AGAINST MAN CITY?
🔥 Alexander Isak
🔥 Cody Gakpo
😰 BOTH OF THEM
