Roméo Lavia is finally showing Chelsea supporters exactly why the club invested so heavily in his talent, and his latest performance against Manchester United has earned him special recognition from Xabi Alonso.
The Chelsea midfielder delivered a sensational Man of the Match performance, providing an assist while demonstrating incredible composure, intelligence and authority in the middle of the pitch. 👏💎
Alonso couldn’t hide his admiration when discussing the Belgian’s performance, saying:
🗣️ “From a midfielder’s point of view, it has been a top, top performance. He did so many things right.”
The Chelsea manager also revealed that Lavia has been operating at a very high level over the last two or three weeks, suggesting that his impressive performances are not coming out of nowhere.
What makes this particularly exciting is the quality Lavia brings to Chelsea’s midfield. His ability to escape pressure, dictate possession, break opposition lines and provide defensive protection makes him an extremely valuable player.
After spending so much time battling frustrating injury problems, Lavia is finally building momentum and showing signs of the midfielder Chelsea desperately need.
The only thing supporters want now is consistency and, most importantly, for him to stay fit. Chelsea look like a completely different team when he is controlling the midfield.
Could Roméo Lavia finally establish himself as Chelsea’s most important midfielder? 👀🔵
