Hansi Flick is preparing for another heavyweight showdown against Atlético Madrid, and his record at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano makes for fascinating reading! 👀
The Barcelona manager has won four of his five visits to Atlético’s intimidating home ground, suffering just one defeat while scoring an impressive nine goals.
📊 FLICK’S RECORD AT THE METROPOLITANO:
✅ 4 victories ❌ 1 defeat ⚽ 9 goals scored
These numbers tell an interesting story. Despite the hostile atmosphere and Diego Simeone’s reputation for making life difficult for visiting teams, Flick has repeatedly found ways to get the better of Atlético on their own territory.
But this is far from an easy assignment. Simeone’s Atlético are known for their intensity, aggressive pressing and dangerous counterattacks. They will be desperate to turn the tables and stop Barcelona from enjoying another successful night in Madrid.
The stakes are even higher this time because Barcelona arrive in Madrid with 30 points, just two ahead of Atlético’s 28. A victory would extend Barça’s lead to five points, while a defeat would allow Simeone’s men to leapfrog them in the title race. 🔥
There is also unfinished business between these two sides following Atlético’s painful 4-0 Copa del Rey victory over Barcelona in February 2026. Flick will certainly want his players to show that they have learned from that humiliation. 😤
With Lamine Yamal, Raphinha and Pedri among the players expected to make a difference, Barcelona have plenty of quality to hurt Atlético.
Four victories in five visits! Can Hansi Flick make it five in six and remind Simeone who is boss? 👀
