Manchester United could be preparing another major transfer move as they step up their interest in AS Roma’s Brazilian defender Wesley França ahead of the January transfer window. 👀🔥
According to reports from Football Insider, United are closely monitoring the 23-year-old right-back as Michael Carrick looks to strengthen both full-back positions at Old Trafford.
And this is where things get interesting! 🤯
Wesley is not your ordinary full-back. The Brazilian is blessed with incredible pace, athleticism, attacking instincts and the versatility to operate on BOTH sides of the defence.
Although naturally a right-back, he has also impressed playing as a left wing-back under Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini. His ability to adapt to different defensive systems makes him an attractive option for United’s recruitment team.
🔴 WHY MANCHESTER UNITED WANT HIM
United have been looking for improvements at full-back, particularly with the need to identify a long-term solution on the left.
Luke Shaw’s situation, alongside questions surrounding consistency and depth in the defensive positions, means United could benefit from bringing in someone capable of competing on both flanks.
Wesley’s attacking qualities could also give Carrick another dimension going forward, offering width, overlapping runs and the ability to stretch opposition defences.
The Brazilian joined Roma from Flamengo in 2025 and has quickly established himself as an important member of Gasperini’s squad. He has also earned recognition at international level with Brazil. 🇧🇷
💰 ROMA DEMAND AROUND £50 MILLION!
However, signing him will not be cheap!
Roma reportedly value Wesley at approximately £50 million and are under no pressure to sell a player who remains an important part of their project.
The defender is also attracting attention from Arsenal and Newcastle United, while other European clubs have reportedly monitored his development.
According to subsequent reports, Roma are unwilling to lose Wesley during the January window, making a potential summer transfer a more realistic possibility.
👀 A TRANSFER BATTLE IS BREWING!
Manchester United have admired Wesley for some time, but the big question is whether INEOS will be prepared to meet Roma’s financial demands.
With United looking to rebuild their defensive department, Wesley could become one of the names to watch when the transfer window opens.
One player who can provide competition on both sides of the defence for £50 million? That is certainly a transfer conversation worth having! 🔥
UNITED FANS, WHAT’S YOUR VERDICT? 🔴
Would you spend £50 million on Wesley França?
Should INEOS prioritise signing him in January or wait until the summer?
