Milos Kerkez could now face what insiders are calling an “extended spell” away from Liverpool’s starting XI after a difficult outing against Burnley, according to Football Insider.
The Hungarian left-back, signed from Bournemouth during the summer transfer window, has been a regular starter for Arne Slot’s side this season. His arrival initially pushed Andy Robertson onto the bench, with Kerkez largely impressing in his early performances.
However, the Burnley clash proved costly. Kerkez was booked for simulation and looked unsettled, prompting Slot to substitute him in the first half. Robertson replaced him and went on to deliver a composed, commanding display as Liverpool secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Scott Parker’s side.
Robertson Back in Contention
Former chief scout Mick Brown believes the situation could see Robertson reclaim his starting role at Anfield.
“Kerkez is going to struggle to get back into the team now,” Brown told Football Insider. “The manager made the right call to take him off because he was at risk of being sent off. But when you put a manager in that position, he won’t be happy with your performance.
“Robertson would be first choice for most clubs in the Premier League. He’ll want to prove himself again and Slot might trust his experience over Kerkez’s inexperience.
“That said, Kerkez is still a top-quality player and Liverpool clearly rate him highly. At elite clubs, though, the margin for error is small. If you’re not at your best, there’s always someone ready to step in. This is healthy competition.”

While Kerkez offers plenty going forward, questions remain over his defensive consistency. Slot may now lean on Robertson’s proven reliability, leaving the 21-year-old with a battle on his hands to earn back his starting role.
