The squad took to the pitch at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper under Hansi Flick as preparations reached their final stage. With the European campaign officially beginning, the atmosphere around the team is one of confidence and serious ambition.
Flick’s side are heading into the Champions League in excellent domestic form, having won all four of their opening LaLiga matches. The team have also been scoring freely, giving supporters plenty of reasons to be excited about the return of European football.
The final session included the available first-team players, with youngsters Hamza Abdelkarim and Jesse Bisiwu also training alongside the senior squad. However, Bisiwu will not be part of the Champions League squad for the Feyenoord match, while Frenkie de Jong remains unavailable and Eric García is suspended.
Hansi Flick has already made his ambitions clear.
The German coach believes Barcelona have the quality to compete for the Champions League trophy and has challenged his players to carry their impressive domestic form onto the European stage. He also highlighted Lamine Yamal’s ability to decide matches and praised Anthony Gordon’s contribution since arriving at the club.
For Barcelona, this is not simply another fixture.
The club have been waiting for another Champions League triumph since 2015, and after coming agonisingly close in recent campaigns, the pressure to go all the way again is growing.
Lamine Yamal has also made it clear that winning the Champions League is his biggest target this season, adding even more excitement to what promises to be a special European night.
Feyenoord, meanwhile, will arrive in Barcelona determined to spoil the party. The Dutch side are coached by former Barcelona player Gio van Bronckhorst, who has praised Barça’s quality and singled out Yamal as a player capable of winning the Ballon d’Or in the future.
