Liverpool have received a huge injury boost ahead of Sunday’s blockbuster Premier League encounter against Arsenal at Anfield, with Andoni Iraola confirming that both Dominik Szoboszlai and Víctor Muñoz have a chance of being available!
Speaking ahead of the crucial fixture, Iraola provided encouraging updates on the two players, although he made it clear that neither would be rushed back into the starting lineup.
For Liverpool supporters, the potential return of Szoboszlai is particularly exciting. The Hungarian midfielder is one of the team’s most important players, bringing incredible energy, pressing intensity, creativity, powerful long-range shooting and the ability to make dangerous runs into the opposition’s penalty area.
His previous performances against Arsenal have also demonstrated how important he can be in this fixture. Having him available, even as a substitute, could give Liverpool a completely different dimension in midfield.
Then there is Víctor Muñoz, the exciting young winger who could provide another attacking option. His pace, direct running and willingness to take on defenders could cause problems for Arsenal’s defensive structure, particularly if the Gunners begin to tire during the second half.
However, Iraola appears determined to manage their recoveries carefully rather than take unnecessary risks in such an important encounter.
Imagine Liverpool struggling to break Arsenal down, with the match entering its final 20 minutes. Suddenly, Iraola has Szoboszlai and Muñoz available from the bench!
That additional quality, energy and attacking threat could make a massive difference.
Liverpool will need creativity, intensity and concentration against an Arsenal side expected to arrive at Anfield with a serious game plan. Florian Wirtz could also play a crucial role in unlocking their defence.
This is exactly the kind of fixture where squad depth becomes incredibly important.
The biggest positive is that Liverpool are getting closer to having more of their important players available again. 🔴💪
