Barcelona could be heading towards a surprising decision involving one of their most recognisable young defenders, with Alejandro Balde reportedly facing an uncertain future at the club ahead of the January transfer window.
According to Sport, Barcelona are open to considering Balde’s departure, and his agent, Jorge Mendes, is already exploring possible destinations for the Spanish left-back.
Interestingly, as many as seven clubs have reportedly shown interest in signing him:
- 🔴 Liverpool
- 🔵 Manchester City
- 🔴 Manchester United
- ⚪ Tottenham Hotspur
- 🟣 Aston Villa
- ⚫ Juventus
- 🟡 Roma
The most realistic possibility at this stage is reportedly a loan deal with an option to buy, rather than an immediate permanent transfer.
The timing of this potential move is particularly important. A decision is expected in December, with Barcelona hoping to use a January loan to increase Balde’s market value before a possible permanent sale next summer. Football365 +2
Barcelona reportedly value the 23-year-old at around €40 million, although Mendes believes a loan with an option to buy, potentially becoming mandatory under certain conditions, could be more realistic.
For Balde, regular playing time could be the biggest motivation. He needs an environment where he can rediscover his confidence, consistency and attacking influence.
For Barcelona, his departure could also create valuable salary space and generate funds for further defensive reinforcements.
This is a potentially significant development because Balde was once considered an important part of Barcelona’s long-term future.
