Chelsea have a massive opportunity to strengthen their position among the Premier League’s elite as they prepare to take on Sunderland at the Stadium of Light in their final league fixture before the international break.
The Blues currently occupy 4th position with 16 points from nine matches, and another victory could take them to 19 points, potentially lifting them into third place depending on Brighton’s result against Brentford. 👀🔥
Under Xabi Alonso, Chelsea have shown plenty of attacking quality this season, scoring 19 goals in their opening nine league matches. They are also coming into this encounter with confidence after an impressive 2-0 victory over Manchester United in their previous Premier League outing.
Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers, Pedro Neto and the rest of Chelsea’s attacking options will be expected to deliver another statement performance. 💥
However, Sunderland should not be underestimated! The Black Cats have already demonstrated that they can trouble Chelsea, having completed a Premier League double over the Blues last season with two 2-1 victories.
Despite their recent struggles, Sunderland will be desperate to give their supporters something to celebrate before the international break. Playing at the Stadium of Light could make this a much tougher assignment than Chelsea might expect.
There are also some injury concerns for the visitors, with Moisés Caicedo and Emiliano Martínez facing late fitness assessments, while Joao Pedro, Reece James and other players remain unavailable.
Interestingly, Chelsea have registered the most shots on target in the Premier League this season, with 53. Their attacking statistics show just how dangerous Alonso’s team can be when they find their rhythm. ⚽🔥
The mission is clear: THREE POINTS!
Chelsea cannot afford to drop unnecessary points if they want to remain firmly inside the Champions League places. A victory would provide the perfect confidence boost before the players head off for international duty.
MY PREDICTION: SUNDERLAND 1-3 CHELSEA! 🔵💙
Can Xabi Alonso’s men get the job done and enter the international break sitting comfortably in the Premier League top four?
CHELSEA FANS, ARE WE TAKING ALL THREE POINTS TODAY? 👀🔵
