Liverpool’s rising stars are back in Jersey Mike’s Trophy action, and this time the young Reds face a tricky trip to Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday evening. 🔴🔥
The U21s head into the clash with plenty of confidence after producing a remarkable comeback against Rochdale in their opening Group H fixture. Despite being reduced to 10 men, Liverpool fought back from 3-1 down in stoppage time to secure a dramatic 3-3 draw, before winning the penalty shootout 7-6 to claim the all-important bonus point. 😱👏
Will Wright, Ben Trueman and Josh Sonni-Lambie were the heroes that night, with the Reds refusing to give up even when the game looked completely gone. That fighting spirit will be crucial again against Doncaster. 💪🔥
Now comes another serious test.
Doncaster suffered a 3-1 defeat to Huddersfield Town in their opening Trophy match, leaving them desperate for a result. Liverpool, meanwhile, currently sit second in Northern Group H with two points from their opening game after the shootout victory. 👀📊
The young Reds have also shown plenty of attacking firepower recently, making this a fascinating contest between two sides with plenty to prove. Liverpool will be looking to turn their dramatic Rochdale comeback into another positive result and strengthen their push for qualification. 🚀🔴
With the top two teams in each group advancing to the knockout stages, every point matters. There is absolutely no room for complacency. 🏆⚡
