Manchester United are preparing for a potentially important January transfer window, with the club reportedly stepping up their search for a new centre-forward following Benjamin Šeško’s worrying injury setback. 😳🔴
The Red Devils are understood to be monitoring four different strikers as they evaluate their options in the attacking department. One name attracting particular attention is Club Brugge sensation Nicolò Tresoldi, who has been enjoying an impressive spell in front of goal.
United’s decision to explore the striker market comes after Šeško was ruled out for an extended period because of a recurring shin problem. Manager Michael Carrick is now facing a difficult situation, with his attacking options looking increasingly limited.
According to reports, Šeško could remain unavailable until at least January 2027, meaning United may have to find another solution rather than depend entirely on their existing forwards. 😬
🔥 FOUR STRIKERS REPORTEDLY ON MANCHESTER UNITED’S SHORTLIST
1. 🇩🇪 Nicolò Tresoldi – Club Brugge
The 22-year-old German Under-21 international is reportedly one of the most exciting names on United’s radar. Tresoldi has been in sensational scoring form, registering 12 goals in 14 appearances this season according to TEAMtalk.
His performances have attracted attention from several major European clubs, including Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham. Club Brugge are reportedly looking for around £42 million to consider selling him.
2. 🇫🇷 Jean-Philippe Mateta – Crystal Palace
Mateta is another familiar name on United’s transfer radar. Unlike some of the younger targets, the French striker already understands the demands of Premier League football.
His physical presence, strength, aerial ability and experience could provide United with another attacking dimension. Reports suggest he could be available for approximately £25 million because of his contract situation.
3. 🇭🇷 Igor Matanović – Freiburg
The Croatian forward is also attracting attention after delivering impressive performances for Freiburg.
Standing around 6ft 5in, Matanović offers the physical qualities United could benefit from. His ability to compete in aerial battles, hold up the ball and contribute goals makes him an interesting option.
4. 🇭🇷 Dion Beljo – Dinamo Zagreb
Beljo completes the reported four-man shortlist. The Croatian striker has impressed United’s recruitment team, who are understood to have followed his performances.
He represents another potential option as the club searches for additional firepower up front.
🚨 UNITED CANNOT AFFORD TO IGNORE THEIR STRIKER PROBLEM!
The situation highlights a problem that has been developing at Old Trafford for some time.
United entered the season without enough natural competition in the number nine position, and Šeško’s absence has exposed just how important it is to have reliable attacking depth.
Joshua Zirkzee remains another option, while Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo can also operate centrally. However, United are reportedly keen to bring in a traditional centre-forward who can provide goals, physical presence and competition.
Interestingly, the January striker search is not simply about finding a temporary replacement for Šeško. United are also looking at their longer-term attacking structure, particularly with uncertainty surrounding Zirkzee’s future.
With January approaching, INEOS could have a major decision to make. 💰
The question is whether United will invest in an exciting young prospect like Tresoldi or choose a more experienced Premier League striker like Mateta.
One thing is clear: Manchester United need more goals!
