Liverpool Set to Enter Race for Marc Guehi After Submitting Major Bid
Liverpool and Arsenal are both expected to join the competition for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi this summer, according to sources speaking to Football Insider.
Tottenham made a late £70 million bid for the Palace captain in an effort to address their defensive injury woes but had their offer rejected. At the same time, Chelsea explored a potential move to bring Guehi back to Stamford Bridge during the mid-season transfer window.
His asking price is expected to decrease over the summer, with Guehi’s contract running out in June 2026.
Interest in the 23-year-old is widespread among the Premier League’s traditional “big six,” with Newcastle also planning to renew their pursuit after missing out on him last summer.
Crystal Palace is keen to avoid allowing the England international to enter the final year of his contract, as losing out on a substantial transfer fee is not an option for the club.
Guehi’s value may fall with growing interest from Liverpool and Arsenal
Since joining Palace from Chelsea in 2021 for a reported £18 million, Guehi has become a regular starter for England, playing 90 minutes in each of their last three matches after impressing during last summer’s European Championships.
With Liverpool and Arsenal both battling for the Premier League title and virtually guaranteed to play in the Champions League next season, Chelsea and Newcastle are focusing on securing a top-five finish.
Tottenham was the most heavily invested in Guehi last month but currently sits 14th in the table, with Champions League qualification only likely if they win the Europa League.
