Michael Carrick believes Manchester United are beginning to show genuine signs of improvement despite their recent struggles, insisting that small details and costly moments have been preventing the team from getting better results.
The United manager is encouraged by what he has seen in recent performances, but he also understands that positive football alone is not enough. His players must learn to manage difficult moments, remain concentrated and avoid making mistakes that allow opponents to punish them.
Reflecting on the Champions League encounter against Roma, Carrick admitted that United’s first-half performance was not particularly poor, although there were periods when his team left themselves exposed and failed to manage the game properly.
According to Carrick, these seemingly small moments have repeatedly made the difference between winning, drawing and losing matches.
However, there are encouraging signs that the team is moving in the right direction.
✅ Against Chelsea: Carrick described United’s first-half performance as “very, very good”, suggesting that there were plenty of positives despite the final result.
✅ Against Roma: He also believes a significant portion of the performance was “really good”, particularly considering the team’s response and comeback.
Speaking about the overall progress, Carrick delivered a positive assessment:
🗣️ Michael Carrick: “We’ve definitely shown signs of improvement, no doubt.”
The message from Carrick is clear: Manchester United are making progress, but they cannot afford to keep giving opponents opportunities through avoidable mistakes and lapses in concentration.
The challenge now is to turn those encouraging performances into consistent results.
United supporters have waited long enough to see their team play with confidence, intensity and a clear identity. The improvement must continue, and the upcoming fixtures will provide another opportunity to demonstrate that this team is genuinely moving forward.
UNITED FANS, DO YOU SEE REAL IMPROVEMENT UNDER MICHAEL CARRICK, OR DOES HE STILL HAVE A LOT TO PROVE? 👀🔥
